I do. Now i can play all the games i was missing. And it's a great way to keep the old games alive. The "save state" function is outstanding, save whenever you want.
So i think emulators is terrific.

Re: Do you like emulators ?
Wed, March 16, 2005 - 9:41 AMI collect the classic stand up games. From what I gather there are problems in quite a few MAME roms emulating perfectly... the game runs too slow, or things like vector games don't translate well to a vga monitor. But I think I'm about to take the jump and convert an old cabinet to a MAME set up so I can run a couple thousand games in one cabinet. I've run out of space! 15 arcade games and a couple pins take up a lot of room, MAME seems like my only option at this point. -

Wed, March 16, 2005 - 4:47 PMEmulators are what Im stuck with until I actually own a place. My wife basically made me get rid of my standup, as she wouldnt allow it in her livingroom. S;ok. I still have my Strider board. Im just waiting for the day I can restore a cabinet for it.

Re: Do you like emulators ?
Wed, March 16, 2005 - 11:16 PMLucky for us, emulators are improved all the time, and getting better and better. I think emulators such Snes9x, Zsnes and Gens have become very competent emulators.
Mame is not perfect yet, but we coming closer for every year. And it's a great way to have 5.800+ arcadegames in ONE cabinet, he he.
One day all hardware is gone, but emulators will live forever, in one or another form. All these classic games is WAY to great, to die. -

Re: Do you like emulators ?
Fri, March 18, 2005 - 4:30 PMI don't think all the hardware will be gone one day, much as vinyl records are still around for collectors and purists. And old arcade games are quite collectible and so impressive that people just can't throw them away. I scored two '76 dead games, Night Driver and Sea Wolf, last weekend. Some old operator had them in his storage space for the last 2 decades and finally got around to selling them. But yeah, I'm glad it's all getting emulated. For new people to get turned on to older games, and to have the code avaible to burn new roms for old game boards. -

Re: Do you like emulators ?
Sat, March 19, 2005 - 2:08 AMYou really like arcadegames, i can tell. Me too. I want a "defender" t-shirt too, he he. But you got a point there. People collecting old games, and it's a lot of money in it. So i guess the hardware will stay for a while yet. Look at the prices of old rare neogeo cartridges, they keep getting more and more expensive. A good sign.

Mon, June 27, 2005 - 3:35 AMHardware is hard to find. Try to buy a commodore 64 and spectrum and a vic-20 they are expensive and hard to find because it's a high value on them.. I have a intellivision with nearly 50 orginalgames its worth much! -
