Sat, October 18, 2003 - 10:45 AMI dig shooters...I think Ikaruga's decent, but not as good as Radiant Silvergun was. That game is just MADNESS. =) -

Re: any shumps fans around?
Thu, October 23, 2003 - 3:49 PMDoes Aric have a Sega Saturn? Do you? Because as far as I know, that's the only way anyone's playing RS. If I'm taking a bus up, there's no way I'm bringing my Saturn with me.
You may just have to come down to the States or something. -

Thu, October 23, 2003 - 9:41 PMShit. No one that I know of has a Sega Saturn.
I might have to take you up on the visit to the states.
I'm eventually going to buy Ikaruga for the Gamecube, since I'm a scrolling shooter addict ;)

Re: any shumps fans around?
Wed, November 26, 2003 - 7:30 PMI never was a big fan of this style of game. I liked 1942 and R-type but that was it. Until I got my Dreamcast. Mars Matrix hooked me, as did another. I cant remember the name, all I recal at the moment are the 3d-ish backgrounds and one of the characters yelling Thunder Bombah! I will have to look into this Ikaruga... -

Re: any shumps fans around?
Thu, November 27, 2003 - 2:12 AMThey're really an acquired taste. Yeah, aside from R-Type, it took me a while, too. I remember being PISSED when R-Type replaced whatever one of the video games they had at the convenience store near me (over the years, Double Dragon, the World Series Baseball knockoff with the home run derby, John Elway's Quarterback, Super Contra, and Final Blow stand out...I think it might've been Double Dragon that got the axe at the time), but it grew on me, and it's still a challenging, creative game.
As I mentioned, Ikaruga is nice, but if you have a Saturn and the means, Radiant Silvergun is unfrigginbelievable. -

Mon, March 14, 2005 - 5:48 AMI LOVE shooters. Darius Gaiden and In The Hunt is two of my favorites.
I strongly recommend you download Mame and all the arcade roms.
Then you're in for a good blast.
Mars Matrix, Dangun Feveron, Gigawing, Donpatchi, Guvange, Dimahoo. Is some really good shooters on Mame.
And........you can play all the classics like Robotron, Centipede etc.

Re: any shumps fans around?
Thu, July 14, 2005 - 2:03 PMreccomended for snes(system or emulator): Parodius, 100% Cotton,Area 88(or UN Squadron, Hyperzone, Alexay(probably my favorite!! a rare one indeed), Space Megaforce, Sonic Wings, R-Type 3rd Lightning(man i love r-types), Phalanx(another fav), Macross(another very good one).... there were a couple lesser known titles but i can't remember them off the top of my head..
for genesis(system or emulator): don't know of too many here.. except one that pushes the limits of the genesis.. a rarity and a find.. PANORAMA COTTON!! -

Re: any shumps fans around?
Thu, July 14, 2005 - 2:11 PMIf you want to get the best shoot'em ups on your computer. Get the latest version of M.A.M.E and play the Arcade Orginals.
But some of them can be quite heavy on the processor, so you need a quite powerful computer to play them att 100%. Not much touch titles like DonPatchi, Dangun Feveron, Mars Matrix and so on.
But for Genesis, i would recommend some good oldies like Arrow Flash, Thunder Force, Truxton, Darius II, Zero Wing and Raiden Trad.

Re: any shumps fans around?
Fri, July 15, 2005 - 2:52 PMThen we have some older classics, on Amiga and Atari.
Xenon II, Goldrunner, Menace, Bloodmoney, Silkworm, and not to forget Jeff Minters Llamatron (still awesome).
Heck, i even like those old Atari 8bit shooters.
Millipede, Moon Patrol, Asteroids, Warhawk and Missile Command.
Real old, but still fun.
Christer.
